Things are starting to kick off this week. As things are calming down in Rotsgard, the action shifts toward the two hyuman empires in which the heroes reside. With the hyman heroes in trouble, Makoto is once again summoned by the Goddess, this time with Shiki, before being dispatched to save Hibiki.
I really enjoyed this discussion with the Goddess. In general, I think the story benefits from angry Makoto whenever he appears. We saw it in the first season when he avenged the first Komoe by killing a hyuman for the first time. This confrontation with the Goddess seems to have lit a fire under Makoto as it compels him to mobilize the demiplane residents to try to exert his will on the world.
With Makoto traveling to Limia to save Hibiki, the show is about to cash a lot of checks that the OP has written.
I don’t remember from the WN, but was >!Athena!< the one yelling to the goddess?
I don’t remember the WN saying who it was, but that is my guess based on what we do see later of the other deities.
Wait a minute, with the ice spell last week and the stage play this week… Am I in a gag anime? <insert always has been meme>
There’s a lot I forgot about the source material, including Shiki’s theory that the attack on the empire was also a diversion based on his views of which hero is a long term threat rather than a short term one.
Also is nice that we finally get to see the demiplane residents actually do something after all the training they’ve been doing. Convenient to have a small army in your pocket.
And not sure how to feel about the goddess meeting. Perhaps sad he didn’t get a punch in, but not for lack of effort at least? An interesting relationship where it seems they’re clearly at odds, and vocal about it, but can’t really do anything against each other easily too.
Cliffhanger, obviously.
The new ending theme is nice. Not as good as My Factor, but good nonetheless.
The ED was a throwback to season 1, episode 4 (ED3). It isn’t my favorite ED, but it was nice to have a Tomoe/Mio duet after they were so excited to be of use to Makoto this week.
