Almost 2.7 billion records of personal information for people in the United States were leaked on a hacking forum, exposing names, social security numbers, all known physical addresses, and possible aliases.
The data allegedly comes from National Public Data, a company that collects and sells access to personal data for use in background checks, to obtain criminal records, and for private investigators.
When people can collect this shit on you legally anyway, I’m inclined to think everyone should have access to it equally.
Or maybe a sequence of numbers that were never intended as a means of identification beyond SSI, should not be used as a means of identification that can used to compromise your entire life. But hey, I’ll probably get another 3 years of free identity theft protection. At this rate I’ll never need to pay for it in my lifetime. /s
Lovely
All these fuckers get to make money off of every part of my life except me AND put me in harms way. Fuck all of you right into the Sun.
I mean, NPD stole this data from people without their consent in my eyes, so stealing it back and releasing it for free is fair in my eyes.
