Summary
The Skilhunt MiX-7 Gen 2 is a successful update of the little multi-color flashlight. Finally it delivers what its name suggests and you have the option of mixing the colored LEDs with each other. With the long Plus version you can now use 18650 batteries for a longer runtime.
The UI is still not perfect, but it is an improvement on its predecessor. For example, the UV light is a little hidden to activate. On the other hand, it is not an easy task to design a UI for so many functions with just one button. It would be nice to be able to adjust the brightness of the mixed colors.
Took a minute to realize that the second to bottom pic was two lights, rather than one very gimmicky looking one ;).
If you talk to the Skilhunt guys, it would be great if they heard that some of us out here would really like an AA version of the E3A. 100 lumens like the E3A, 1 level, no lumenitis, no modes, no UI beyond on and off, minimal size, just the E3A again but bigger. The existing E2A gets all of this wrong.
One hour of runtime is more than enough for a single mode keychain light IMHO. Don’t think skilhunt will expand in that direction.
TBH I’d be happy with a 1AA (1.5 volt not 14500) Anduril light, so I could configure it myself. I have an SP10 Pro that is supposed to use AA’s, but it only works on 14500.
It also works with AA, except that yours is broken. ;)
There’s also the Emisar D3AA that works with AA.
Thanks! I didn’t realize that it used AA. I had somehow thought it was 14500-only, like the D2.
Added: I think I will order one! The 1lumens review is informative. There are some annoying issues but I like the 1.5V AA format, and the light is quite affordable. A dual fuel D3 would also be great.
1AA is not a keychain light, it’s a pocket utility light. In my case mostly for use around the house, so more lumens is useless. It would be about 2 or 3 hours of runtime.
The famous Arc AAA was designed from the beginning to have 5 hours of runtime if that matters. That came in handy for me during a long power outage some years back.
Unrelated Q: can you recommend a bike mount for a S21e?
I made my own very minimalistic one, but it works great for all kind of flashlights:

Unfortunately plastic aint gonna cut it on a mountain bike haha
Great review, might actually get one because seems like a great light and I like the format.
