For real. Confirming the existence of any exo planet is a huge technological feat and yet now it’s happening non stop. The first ever confirmed exo planet was 1995 and now we’ve got a catalog of almost 6,000 confirmed. Wild times!

Years ago I was reading “Extreme Dog Owner” while it was being released and was blocked out of latest episodes. So when the artist stopped the series it took a while before I realized the last few episodes would never get unlocked for me. Sounds like the same situation? Minus the huge piracy warnings.

And the algorithms for Lemmy seem simple enough in my experience. You sort by active to see what people are actually engaging in, sort by hot if you wanna see what’s building momentum (not sure if that’s actually it but that’s what it feels like) and sort by new if you just wanna basically see internet stream of consciousness

I think this is quite the popular opinion, even among people who enjoy social media. I feel many people just accept this is the current state of things. But yeah, the evolution happened as the stress to monetize increased, so anything to keep people on the platform.

If you post something that makes someone stay on platform long enough to see an ad or two, wonderful! The algorithm will bless you with exposure and the emptiness in your soul will be filled with likes.

Social media platforms want to make ad revenue, they need the audience to stick around and they will employ all kinds of psychological trickery to do so.

Finally watched “Nope”. Loved it. I love horror but usually prefer supernatural stuff, so slept on this one a good long while, but man, great character writing, excellent story telling. I see why so many people recommended it

Were you into DMC or Bayonetta? I love those games for similar reasons. Might be worth checking out if you’re into hack and slash gameplay and you haven’t tried them already.

So what is it about RE that keeps you coming back? Were you into all the games in the series?

I feel like you gotta know what kind of games appeal to you. I’m also not into a whole lot of modern games but I got completely absorbed with Outer Wilds and Subnautica. Freely exploring a world with interesting mechanics while you try and uncover what is going on. Love it.

I also found I really enjoy Oxygen Not Included and Frostpunk. Something about making sure all my people are surviving and hopefully thriving really keeps me invested. And the little narrative things in those games are nice icing on top too.

So for games you like, like the RE 4 remake, what were the things you liked about it? Once you know what kind of things you enjoy in games it makes it easier to find more of that.

Fair, the wording of “people powered” probably isn’t really accurate, more like “people really seem to like her and there’s positive, growing support among the public”. As you said though, in the end it feels like politicians just end up following corporate money’s orders.
