They make the request knowing it will be denied, it gets denied, right-wing media reports that Trump is being censored (he’s not) because it’s over (it’s not) and they’re just trying to punish him more (they aren’t). But right wingers don’t read any other sources, so it makes sense on the surface and they believe it because it fits the narrative.
