It wouldn’t be such a big deal if instead they adjusted the heavy count.
I didn’t only pick flamethrower because it’s fun, but also because it felt like it was necessary. I had a bunch of rounds where we ended up with constant spawning of chargers at extraction, at some point it went over 10+ at the same time. It just wasn’t doable without a reliable weapon such as a flamethrower.
Also it’s quite annoying that they keep nerfing popular weapons instead of just making other weapons more viable and interesting.
I agree on every point but the last: they fixed the Spear and (afaik) the HMG - both of which are viable, at least against bots IME; they buffed the POS and one of the turrets, and some things I’ve never used so idr&idc.
Not that I think having popular weapons nerfed feels nice nor is it always necessary, but every now and then they do buff unpopular things to make them (closer to being) viable.
I thought the Spear was bugged for a long time? At least that’s what I read, didn’t really use it myself. It’s definitely been improved since then.
And the HMG is the one that launched without the aim reticle I think? Which seemed like a weird design choice from the start.
I agree that sometimes they fix or improve weapons, but it seems like they more often than not nerf every popular/effective weapon, even after they said they wouldn’t do it anymore. Hopefully they learn now, it’s not a competitive game, so nerfing weapons shouldn’t really be a thing, unless it’s obviously broken.
I’ve never used the spear myself, but I heard it either was extremely unreliable or straight up crashed games.
When they fixed it, I couldn’t find a lobby without one.
I’m with the other half: I don’t remember what they did to the HMG, maybe they increased damage or lowered recoil, but nowadays I don’t leave home without one.
I wouldn’t say it was OP against heavies. It required getting very close to them to kill them, which usually meant requiring stun grenades. If a strategy to kill a single heavy in 3 seconds requires that you get in close and dedicate 2 slots in your build to work, that seems like a good baseline to me and not OP.
It’s also even worse against mobs than it used to be, cause it can’t penetrate through them. There’s pretty much no point in taking it now over a machine gun.
Broke? It’s still great, it’s just not OP against heavies as it wasn’t intended.

Yeah, I tested the new primary and secondary flamethrowere and they seem to be even better, and get trough some armor on some mobs.
I think that’ll get fixed soon to work the same way.
