I might be wrong but I’m 90% sure the Shadowrun (ttrpg) community was on this instance. Now I can’t find it anywhere (cross-instance community search doesn’t find it too) and I can see in my profile that my posts sent there disappeared too.
Was the community closed? I couldn’t find this info in the modlog
Indeed I believe we had one here (that I never followed). IMO, small specialized communities closing aren’t a bad thing. We already lack content on a generic rpg community like !rpg@ttrpg.network (Make me think i want to post a few “discussions” there). So if the shadowrun lover start posting there too it’ll be a bit more alive.
It’s a pity. I was hoping it would get bigger with time.
My problem with “generic rpg” communities is that most of the content is focused on D&D/Medieval/High Fantasy that I’m not really interested in.
Thanks for the input, anyway :)
s that most of the content is focused on D&D/Medieval/High Fantasy that I’m not really interested in.
Which is why we need more contents focusing on other RPG :)
IMO , at the moment, the people on lemmy should focus on keeping a few communities active rather than having thousands of micro communities with 5 posts a year.
Maybe you’re right
I just wish content creators would start marking that they’re going to write something D&D-specific, as they do with other systems. Very often the title and first paragraph looks like “general GM piece” only to turn to “5E stats” (as if there was only one 5E in the world) in the second one
What kind of Shadowrun content are you looking for?
Regarding Shadowrun itself, I’m interested in Lore discussions, GM discussions not about the mechanics (i e. “how do I portray Johnny Spinrad hiring our group? Tee Hee turned out wrong”), reviews of campaign/mission books, etc
I’m also interested in general GMing content like the “onion plots”, “lazy gm” approach or “how to do combat like a dolphin”
Since you chose that comment to ask your question, I’ll expand on what I’m complaining about. Content I have problem with is a title that sounds like it might be the general advice but then suddenly “this monster has the following stats, so that’s how you put it against your players in a smart way”. It’s great that it exists and I’m sure anyone playing D&D can take a lot from articles like this. But it’s of no use for me and from my perspective there’s a lot of content like this.
Hence in general I tend to avoid the “general RPG” spaces because most of the links I find there turn out to be not for me, and only after I start reading. And I get it that it might sound over the top that I complain about needlessly reading a paragraph or two. But with the amount of backlog that I have, the proportions of what topics interest me vs those which don’t and the rate at which unread content grows - yes, every click counts for meI get what you mean. It’s tricky. I think what you’re observing is that it would be ideal to have a community for RPG stuff that is NOT Dungeons & Dragons. It’s tough that most communities are built around a certain game, and there isn’t quite enough activity on Lemmy, I think for one just for Shadowrun.
If it’s of any use, I moderate a community for discussion of a game myself and friends are getting ready to release. It’s a street level sci-fi setting. It’s not very active, but if you’re looking for another place to look for RPG discussion after the usual ones, it’s at least cyberpunk-adjacent.
Incidentally, I just searched for what combat like a dolphin means, and I’m gonna post it over there on. We’re at !fullyautomatedrpg@slrpnk.net .
Well, it is the state the hobby is in general, not only Lemmy.
Thanks for letting me know about Fully Automated, I’ll check it out
