I do get the meme, and maybe my opinion is disqualified due to my status as a hetero dude, BUT…

I honestly think Otis is a catch. Dude is funny, ruggedly handsome, strong as heck, and has a hell of a job that pays his bills.

Oh you ain’t wrong, and my own opinion is probably disqualified cause I basically fucking am Otis lmao. People can laugh cause he’s the tubby guy but tubby guy there makes more money and has better job security than pretty much everyone who makes fun of him, he knows he’s coming out on top!

this reminds me of that time in wcw where raven was cutting a promo when someone from the crowd came out and dragged him out of the ring by his neck so he just got back up, brushed himself off, and continued the promo.

        i miss flock era raven.

I wouldn’t mind that tbh. Different kind of leader than Brodie but could be menacing in a different way, tho I feel we’d need a month or two of set up before hand cause we’d need to take Perry away from the Elite story first. And DO would need to be willing since they seem hell bent on remaining a trio.

If they are happy so be it, but damn I wanted more from that group. I guess JP could just hunt misfits then, people that seem forgotten and left behind, Lord knows there’s enough roster for a new group.

i get the point but to be fair, aside from the inner circle/pinnacle stuff, he’s really remained in the midcard while hogan was constantly at the main event.

Not only that, he’s “monopolizing” a slot by sharing it with 2 excellent picks for pushes (Big Bill and Bryan Keith) and having good-to-great matches where he leaves space for others to do their thing.

I get that people have internet brain and have ulterior reasons to hate the man but as an older wrestler he knows his place and he’s doing well in it.

He’s at least trying to elevate people, and he’s crucially not trying to pull rank and demand championships when his bones are made of real glass.

He’s still got ok ring skills if he paces himself and he’s still as great at coming up with gimmicks as he’s ever been, this is the best way to use him IMO. Surround him with younger people who can benefit from the exposure and make them the focus.

I just returned to WWE after 20 years and the Wyatt stuff is my second least favorite thing on the show. It makes zero sense to me.

My least favorite thing is Pretty Deadly

I’m sorry to say, you are wrong on both accounts. I’m sad they haven’t done much with Pretty Deadly since being called up. They have amazing old school heel hijinks, and charisma for days. As someone that didn’t really ‘get’ Bray Wyatt since I wasn’t around for his first run, the Wyatt Sicks have been hype as fuck

I understand they aren’t your thing, but personally, and I think for a few people at least, this is the best WWE has been in so long, and both groups are part of that. WWE just might not be your thing anymore friend

I mean I’ve gone back and watched some of the Bray stuff and didn’t like it either so it’s just not my thing.

The pretty deadly thing, I’ve been watching again since wm40 but not religiously just kinda watch it in the background. I have no background for where they were before, so to many new viewers all we see is this cringe stuff and getting beat up by everyone. I am loving Drew, Punk, Bron breakker, Gunther, Jacob fatu, Dom Mysterio and Rhea. I have no reference for any of them, but they’ve impressed me in the last few months. (When I stopped watching, Dominik was a bleached haired, sad looking kid being feuded over by Rey and Eddie, it’s incredible to see how good he is as a chicken shit heel)

Alright, this makes sense. Aside from those 2, you have great taste! Everyone you listed is amazing. Bron is the son of Rick and nephew of Scott Steiner if you didn’t know. He is like a combination of the two of them and then some. Jacob Fatu is one to keep an eye on. That dude can MOVE. Dom has had outstanding growth. I wanted him off my TV when I got back into it, and now he’s one of my favorites.

Sorry if my previous post came off as hostile. I meant to have some fun, but I have a big soft spot for Pretty Deadly and The Wyatt Sicks and felt the need to defend them. Wyatts aren’t for you and that is perfectly fine.

Funny thing is I decided to start peeking into what WWE was doing after I heard McMahon was pushed out. I like rumble matches so I watched the 24’ one. The moment breakker appeared I said “Jesus. This guy looks like a mix of both Steiners, who tf is he?” Looked him up and went “yup”.

I stopped watching around when Eddie died. They had kinda lost me by then so that was my exit cue. I checked in every couple years but never liked what I saw until this year.

I’m amazed to hear that certain stars like Drew weren’t a big deal until McMahon left, he’s such a natural badass

Drew is a bit of a different story. He was supposed to be a big deal earlier on from what I recall, but being young I think he started boozing too hard. Also, he used to be another small long haired guy believe it or not. He was in 3 Man Band with Heath Slater and I wanna say Jinder Mahal. My dude did a little prayers and vitamins glow up, started making a name for himself, and is now what you are seeing today. Anyone feel free to correct me if I got any of this wrong

Because you’re just returning to WWE after 20 years lol, kind of understandable. You kinda missed a lot of stuff that’s relevant to why it makes sense (including years of character development and plot that has lead up to it).

Ok?.. Shouldn’t the story that just started make sense to new takes it viewers? Otherwise you’ll lose em.

I mean from what I’ve seen I don’t like it. I don’t like the supernatural stuff. I was hoping it would be more Devil’s rejects, not the ring. Also I have gone back recently and watched some Bray Wyatt stuff, and I gotta say I really hate the whole funhouse thing.

Ok?.. Shouldn’t the story that just started make sense to new takes it viewers? Otherwise you’ll lose em.

Except it’s not really a new story. Again it’s the culmination of years of Wyatt storylines, and everything that’s happened to all the individual members which has led them there. It’s not just ‘oh hey these folks are in a group yippie!’. You don’t hop into Game of Thrones in season 5 and act confused why the brother and sister are fucking, it was explained years ago. You don’t act confused about what these white zombie things are, it was explained years ago.

Also, some things are explained for new viewers, a lot of the Wyatt stuff has been explained for new viewers, they literally did over a month of video promos literally spelling out word for word what was going on and why to catch new viewers up and doing interviews with a few of the members talking about their past and what’s led them here, but they also have to provide content for the viewers who haven’t skipped on years of viewing. It’s long term storytelling, the stuff fans complain for years about not happening. It’s more beneficial to let the newer viewers play catch up and get themselves up to speed via the numerous videos WWE puts out on YouTube to catch people up than baby the rest of the audience with having to explain things weekly (as there’ll always be new viewers each and every week who’d be out of the loop).

I mean from what I’ve seen I don’t like it. I don’t like the supernatural stuff.

The supernatural stories ended with Bray’s death over a year ago. Nothing currently ongoing with the Wyatt Sicks is supernatural unless if you consider a split personality between Howdy/Bo to be supernatural. They’re a group of misfits who were torn from their respective families/groups/had their groups/factions destroyed/fell apart/whatthefuckever over the last few years across numerous storylines and were united as a weird little family by Bo/Howdy in Bray’s name (and by Bray directly had he not died before things came to fruition).

If you don’t like the supernatural Bray stuff, and you don’t like the firefly funhouse stuff, and you aren’t liking the Wyatt Sicks stuff: The Wyatt story may just not be for you. That’s fine, not every show has every single thing be a winner for every single person. If you are not a fan of long term storylines without a million pounds of exposition from the past however I would suggest you avoid SmackDown cause the several-year-long-Bloodling story ain’t gonna help either (literally it has been years).

Edit: plus this is WWE we’re talking about: they aren’t gonna lose any substantial amount of viewers over how they are presenting this, they are doing their best numbers in literally years. If they lose viewers they gain more new ones the next week.

This isn’t game of thrones. It’s a live show with no beginning or end. You’re asking me to catch up on 20 years of story to understand this? Means it’s no good then. Every other story or feud has made total sense to me as a new person. And also it’s not that I don’t understand what’s happening, it’s that it’s stupid, that’s what makes no sense to me.

Nothing is supernatural? Why the fuck are guards just flopping over? What are they being gassed? Why is a wrestler running away from another wrestler crawling towards him face first instead of punching him? Why is Chad gable acting like he’s alone in a room when he’s I’m an arena full of people? Why did the Wyatts kill and maim an entire crew without consequence or explanation? It’s stupid. It’s about as stupid as when I was a kid and the undertaker was shooting lightning and I knew it was stupid then. Or when the yeti showed up to assist the giant in wcw. I hate this supernatural shit. It’s childish and cheesy. If I wanted to see this I would watch a horror movie

It’s a live show with no beginning or end

Correct, but the storylines do have beginning and ends, and the storyline you’re hopping into right now is the 8th chapter of the 4th book in a series. You can hop in at any time and fully understand new stories that are presented going forward but you obviously aren’t gonna get the full details without doing a minimal amount of catch up work, no.

You’re asking me to catch up on 20 years of story to understand this?

No, I’m saying you missed 20 years of story so you shouldn’t be surprised at not getting something. What WWE (and anyone else involved) is asking you to do is catch up on what’s relevant. It’s 2024, WWE puts out YouTube videos, compilations, and tons of things to help people get caught up. Watch 2-3 videos and you’re caught up.

                Literally everything else you said.

Sounds like you have a problem with suspending your disbelief then. I can’t help you with that, that’s a part of basic media literacy. Sorry I’m not trying to insult you, I just literally cannot help you. It’s pro wrestling, it’s not supposed to be 100% serious and logical all the time, we’re literally watching people in their underwear acrobatically fake-punch people and smash each other with pieces of metal that would kill any human being on the planet lmao If you’re trying to find logic in everything… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

                Edit: typos

Netflix said the Tyson/Paul fight is going to be talked about for generations to come so I hope it lives up to the meme hype.
