Why Do Nonwhite Georgia Voters Have To Wait In Line For Hours? Too Few Polling Places

West Virginia is this on steroids. Poorer, more rural counties are functionally excluded from the election infrastructure while polling places are concentrated in the handful of urban centers where the state’s middle and upper class reside.

You’ll find similar dynamics in states like Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Mississippi. By all means, I hope folks in West Virginia can beat this stacked deck. But people need to stop pretending elections in these states are simple, objective popularity contests.

It really shows how far right our state’s politics are. With rural voters getting the shaft you would expect things to lean more democrat but the opposite is true. Trump won West Virginia by 30% last election. It’s absolute insanity here.
