Trump aims to cancel contracts for new EVs for the US Postal Service, but the postmaster general says he defends its electrification plans and won’t return any funding for EVs – unless Congress forces the issue, of course.
Nah DeJoy just wants to make sure that when he succeeds in privatizing and selling the USPS off to his buddies that he can sweeten the pot with a brand new fleet.
For delivery vehicles EV makes a ton of sense. They never travel at the high speeds where EVs are least efficient, they have a consistent place to slow charge every night to prolong battery life, the brakes don’t wear despite heavy start/stop service thanks to regen, and by being a single fleet owner the availability of maintenance isn’t a large concern.
