It ended up on the front page of my lemmy instance, so I feel invited to read & comment. As I said, from what the plea describes, there’s plenty of people who one could help a lot more with a lot less money and out of circumstances that they have less chances of getting themselves out of. I am not saying I have zero sympathy for the guy, but if I think about charity, I think about the weakest of society first. And this guy still has his creativity and a safety net (family, friends) to continue working.

You are right in that there are people in worse situations as you describe and I hope you do donate to them however you can. But the person here affected has taken bad decisions and it is actively being legally attacked, this is a position I understand and can relate to so I have donated to him.

I’m replying to you as you have replied to this post as to express my own opinion and to say that although you are not wrong in your comment, it is a bad position to take and might be considered arrogant and presumptuous. May you never be in a position where you need to ask others for money.

What a weird mentality to show up to a place you weren’t invited to(Lemmy showed us this, not the people here) just to tell them that you don’t value their problems and that they shouldn’t either because other people have it worse. I doubt you’re helping them, either, so go find a quiet place to shut the hell up in.

The closest I’ve been to this Disco Elysium is that I know a friend really likes it. That’s about it, so it ain’t my place to shove in and act like my opinion is worth anything.

Yea it’s a very strange stance. “I won’t help this guy because other people might need it more”. I played Disco Elysium and it is obvious it is a very personal project. It was stolen from them and I cannot help but sympathize.

I guess other poor or homeless just dont have a good enough story or product they were part of before.

This is the only part people forget before giving others shit on Lemmy and reddit. I didn’t ask for Dingo Epilepsy news. So when I comment it’s because I was slightly interested in what your platform had to offer…

Because we jumped in on a /all shown post? Close/private your community if you don’t want people to be involved.

Both of your comments are just complaining, that’s not being involved. And the other guys comment was just rude and ignorant.

Their perspective is valid whether you think so or not, thats how perspectives work. Dont be so closed minded.

What perspective? The “I don’t know what’s going and can’t read” perspective, or the “I don’t like how link aggregators work” one?

Or is it the “His struggles don’t matter because there are people worse off” one? That one great. It’s like you get to be heartless while patting yourself on your back.

                “I didn’t ask for it”

Buddy, that’s how link aggregators work. If you don’t like it, then only look at subscribed communities, or block ones you don’t like. Posts aren’t made specifically for you.

Being “slightly interested” doesn’t give you a pass to make shitty, half assed comments. And by the down votes that’s what people seem to think your comments are.
