Tbh, I’m not worried about his dating life. My son is 15 and is dating (USA). Teenagers get together and break up. Learning to respect girls boundaries and his own, emotional growth, etc. That’s normal.
What I am worried about is his getting a driver’s license in a time of rising traffic deaths, him trying drugs laced with fentanyl, buying into right wing ideologies that target boys like him or getting roped into a high control group.
That shit is life altering if not ending.
Oh I’m worried about that, too, especially the right wing shit. But if he’s having trouble dating that’s not exactly something I’d just brush off. That can have some bad consequences, too, boys can get into dangerous risk-taking for girls or get roped into incel stuff… and right wing shit, too.
My kids are all well past puberty, but I’ll relay some fears about my sons as they entered that phase of their lives.
- Unintended pregnancy
- STDs
- Heartbreak
None of those actually happened, as it turns out, because all of my sons are either asexual or damned close to it. The only one that regularly engages in sex is my daughter. I know this because she asks me questions all the time about it, safety practices, etc.
Any idea why they’re asexual? That seems strange for all three to be like that, to say the least. Though in this world if I were their age? From what I’ve heard and seen I might become that way after a while!
Thats not how sexuality works normally … You won’t turn gay or bi, so why would you turn asexual?
Or maybe its been repressed for you and I’m misunderstanding?
Hey maybe you can’t *technically *become asexual but you can certainly lose interest entirely given social or environmental factors. And from what I’ve seen of meatspace outside of the internet, the latter would certainly be me if I were in the dating market.
