  • I thought remake’s combat system was great and it was my game of the year when I came out. FF16 was also great for me, but it was never going to make everyone happy, it had far too many issues and was a focused action game.

Ff7 rebirth though- holy shit, it was just too fucking long. Too exhausting to play. So much shit to do it was overwhelming and SO, SO much filler. So many terrible, stupid story decisions undercutting emotional moments and jumping the shark on itself. I went from loving it because it was more remake to hating it because of many of the changes and the writing. Just…exhausting.

Square just seem like they are missing hard because FF16 was too focused, and FFRebirth is too big and up it’s own ass.

  • Tbh, I was part of a very LGBTQA+ group of people, but I was one of the very few just straight people. I made out with a lot of dudes and that was enough for me to tell that I wasn’t into it. Didn’t feel that same heart-thumping feeling that I feel with a person of the opposite sex.

I do still kind of wish I was bi just to see what it’s like. But I’m straighter than an arrow

  • Starfield was garbage IMO. I didn’t even pay for it and wanted my money back in less than 3 hours.

But I AM still hopeful for Elder Scrolls 6. The weakness of Starfield is exploration is barely a thing; incredibly boring procedural generation is the cause. There is little to no value getting excited exploring the world and the incredible world of Skyrim is what makes it good.

I seriously doubt Bethesda is dumb enough to try procedural generation with the next elder scrolls game, and if they are then it will be dead in the water just by association. But a game similar to Skyrim will likely still find a stronger audience, even if just for the return to form.

  • Personally, I felt like he was a more “normally” designed souls boss fight in a game that feels FAR better fighting human enemies. Once you get parry mechanics down you can kinda cruise through most of sekiro, but with demon of hatred he involves WAY more dodging and jumping in a game where those just don’t feel as good. Combine that with a huge healthbar, 3 phases essentially, and it was kind of exhausting to play compared to other bosses. It turned into a lot more trial and error like a normal souls boss, where you kinda just bash your head against them until you learn all the moves.

Did I hate it? No. But I have no desire to fight it again. It was fun as a 1 off fight, whereas I would happily fight most of the major bosses in sekiro again no problem. It’s a fun change of pace (and I like how powerful some of your gadgets like the umbrella can be in that fight) but it’s not something I’d want to do again.

  • I hope this doesn’t feel as “required” as tenderizing did in iceborne. It always felt like a chore to tenderize where I was going to hit just to get good hitzones. Hopefully this is the reverse where you naturally generate weak points then have the option to exploit them, making it less a thing you HAVE to do just to play the game normally, and more an additional bonus thing skilled hunters can exploit.

  • It’s a pretty fun story focused game. The visual quality can be quite astounding, especially really nice facial animations. The combat is nothing terribly special, but it’s serviceable to get you to the next cutscene which are, on a whole, really good and well written.

It’s also got a myriad of points where the game essentially tests you to choose the right dialogue and choices to get better outcomes. Its actually a pretty fun “choice” based game where there is just enough reactivity in the game to your dialogue that you think about what you are saying before you pick it.

On the whole, I have only fond memories of the game. It’s worth this sale price at 11.99 IMO.

Have to agree, a lot more meaningful weapon skill expression. The difference between a decent Nioh 2 player and an incredible one is night and day. Whereas most competent sekiro players at least have the parry timings down. Sekiro is a lot of fun too, though. Just a very parry focused game.
