Honestly, this online “revolutionary” shit is really starting to give SLA vibes. When I joined lemmy, I really gave them a chance, even though I’m strictly against authoritarianism of any stripe. It is somehow (not that I like the idea of comparing the severity of this) particularly more disgusting and outrageous. My mother was a SARC for a period of time while I was growing up and just the small sampling I was exposed to was staggering.

Idk where you were 2004, but the conservatives you speak of certainly weren’t around. In fact, I’m quite sure they never existed, considering conservatism in the US has always been closely tied to white supremacy and Christian nationalism.
