I agree, though I am super disdainful of any argument that is sort of reskinning “other people are really stupid”.
On the other hand, participation in a congressional primary is pretty low and should weed out the casuals. Nobody who is going to the polls without much info is probably going to show up for these right?
Further, when you have “safe” districts for your party, you sort of invite people from the entire political spectrum to participate in your primary. The parts of the American electorate that WANT muscular support for Israeli military operations are on the right. If those folks skip this primary, they have no influence over their representative at all. Activating conservative voters is probably easier than changing minds.
As a voter you are compelled to vote for the candidate with the largest campaign budget. Oh… wait, that isn’t true at all.
Money is important, but you still need to find voters that are interested in your message. If you have the money to activate them you can win, but they have to be there in the first place.
A pretty good number of these are just pointing out differences between colloquial language and specific language.
Botanical language is useful for botanists to communicate with each other but I’m not putting tomatoes in the fruit salad. Thinking of tomatoes as veggies in your kitchen isn’t some MYTH! Calling a tall plant a tree is useful for you and I to communicate. That does not mean we are deceived or attempting to undermine the work of our botany friends.
The sugar one drives me nuts. Like yeah sugar doesn’t cause DSM-5 “hyperactivity”. Like of course not! It does give a little energy boost. And the rugrats will use the highly available energy and become a hilarious unmanageable dufus for a half hour or so.
If you actually thought that candy was going to give your child a diagnosable psychiatric condition… you’re a huge fucking idiot. If you haven’t ever noticed that giving a kid a bag of sour patch kids gets them riled up, you haven’t spent much time with kids.
My people are here!
Housing is pretty expensive to own if nobody needs it. The fun part of building your way out of the problem is that it bankrupts greedy idiots who try to keep the supply “warehoused”.
Increase supply, prices go down. Nobody wants to lose their ass just so your rent is too high. They will move there money someplace else as soon as the supply constraint bonanza is ended.
But you can still build your way out of that supply problem. The demand for lodging is eating into housing… so what? build more housing until the demand for shelter of all sorts is satisfied. Is there a reason that you cannot build? Yeah it’s nimbys.
Nvidia is making a thing and selling it. No matter what happens with AI tech, they are going to keep their winnings.
Everybody else… well they borrowed/raised and spent a FORTUNE on R&D, chips, and electricity to make a product that has no realized commercial value (yet?). They are either going to figure out where the money comes from soon or the bills gonna come due. The next 12 months are going to be popcorn worthy if you like watching the tech industry.
I have to know what the Detroit soccer team did to get so high on that list. Somebody here must know. Please!
Your body is essentially an oxidation reaction that it ponders its place in the universe.
A slowly burning fire that pays taxes.
Meh, sometimes I drive places a really should have walked. Same shit different scale. I am not moved to anger by this. Eliminate fame or accept that it’s resource intensive.
I’m not sure I fully understand the criticism to be perfectly honest. Is it actually possible to have a mega pop star of that type without them having a more intensive carbon footprint? Like she can’t really fly commercially for a lot of reasons. Tour schedules are one thing but can you imagine the scene it would make?
Fame is really just letting one person, who we consider special for some reason, use the resources of many. They get to live an extravagant lifestyle and we get the cultural benefit their work.
Bottom line: private jet travel seems to me like a requirement of her job. I’m not about to sit here and shame everyone for the carbon output that their job requires of them. She is not some capital class, passive income, leech. The lady works.
FWIW, I don’t really think I could name or identify one of her songs. Everything I know about her is what bleeds through into my media sphere. She could be a real shitheal for all I know.
AA is just about big and dense enough that it should be getting very serious about public transport. They can spend the next five years widening highways and adding more car traffic but if anybody with a brain is involved they will spend that time planning and building transit infrastructure. The tax base is going to explode given what’s happening to housing prices. They can afford to go big right now and set them selves up for a prosperous future… or they can expand highways.
Facebook makes money selling data for advertising. They don’t host and maintain what’s app for the good of mankind. every single thing you send on the app is being harvested for data and you know it. It is decrypted at each end and hovered up for sale to the highest bidder.
Nothing makes me smirk like the rest of the world bragging to Americans that they use Facebook to text. Yeah guys, you nailed it. Big win. We’re over here using standard protocols like rubes. I’m sure you get all kinds of security from that free app from Mr Zuckerberg. lol
It’s worth noting that communists and socialists also depend on population growth to sustain their civilizations as do trees and rabbits and beetles. It’s possible that economic systems don’t really matter all that much here.
Population collapse isn’t the road to some sustainable future. It is how species go extinct. Perhaps we are on that road, so it goes. But whistling past the graveyard pretending that “Star Trek” is on the other side is silly.
If you ever needed a lesson in the difference between power and authority, this is a good one.
The leaders of this coup read the rules and saw that they could use the board to remove Altman, they had the authority to make the move and “win” the game.
It seems that they, like many fools mistook authority for power. The “rules” said they could do it! Alas they did not have the power to execute the coup. All the rules in the world cannot make the organization follow you.
Power comes from people who grant it to you. Authority comes from paper. Authority is the guidelines for the use of power, without power, it is pointless.
Why has CNN put a picture of a man with horrible swamp ass on this story? My dude has soaked the ass of those pants right through and they put him up there without any shame.
Wtf is even going on???
