…Awful?
It’s so fitting and poetic that, just when I finally start getting my life in order, the world throws itself off a cliff.

Hi! You can call me Tadpole. I enjoy maps/geography, sci-fi and speculative fiction, classic and sports cars and motorsports, and retro and retrofuturistic technology from the 70s-90s. Also a racing, role-playing, indie and retro video game connossieur.
I am a certified lurker.

Came here to suggest Unbound too!
I’m the same way (also have ADHD). I love Subnautica*'s underwater gameplay and alien moon aesthetic, but I can only really play it in Creative Mode since I really like building bases and exploring without worrying about resources and dying.
(* I have Below Zero instead because I like the snowy aesthetic and playing as a girl 😅)
Cassette Beasts is so good.

To be fair, Stirner was a pretty cool dude, so I get why :p
That really fucking sucks, I’m so sorry you have to deal with this bullshit. Landlords really are the worst.
Oh my god, tell me about it.
Even when you want to rent a place and can afford to do so, landlords make the situation really difficult because many of them put up places supposedly for rent, but make it as difficult as possible for someone to actually qualify to rent it, since they’re only doing it to inflate their net worth and having someone living there apparently devalues it. It took me over a year to find a place that actually was willing to let me rent it because most others would cook up bullshit reasons to reject me (my personal favourite being one that got mad at me and put me in their blacklist for… asking too many questions about their property???).
Like… I have money. They are offering a good in exchange for money. I am willing to spend money in exchange for this good. It shouldn’t be this hard.
This was a great review, thank you for sharing. I’ve been meaning to play Fallout 4, but as someone who loved the worldbuilding of New Vegas, the story puts me off.
What I’d really like is a mod that removes the game’s main storyline, so I can either focus on the adventuring/settlement-building aspects (thus turning the game into a sandbox), or combine it with good story mods and basically have them replace FO4’s main questline. The only mod I know that does it is Fallout London. (I really need to figure out how to run it on Linux…)
Do you happen to know or recommend anything that fits with what I’m looking for?
I never heard of it, I’m intrigued now. Do you remember what it was called?
It’s in the Workshop! Here you go: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3293418308
I really need to get more into Project Zomboid, I really love its Sims-like aesthetic and early 90s setting. But the whole zombie apocalypse thing quite scares me since I’m pretty terrified of the idea of being eaten alive by a zombie horde and then becoming a zombie @_@ (the end of the tutorial shook me to my core, lol)
I actually made a little “modpack” collection and sandbox game mode that turns it from a zombie apocalypse game to something more like Silent Hill (replacing zombies with eldritch entities, and making them spawn less frequently and move slower, but be far more resistant to damage), since that ironically makes the game less terrifying for me and more manageable to play 😅 (plus I quite like liminal spaces in general, which is something I wanted to replicate with the mod collection)
This is currently me with modded Kerbal Space Program and Cities: Skylines lol
I completely forgot but apparently I joined Lemmy exactly one year ago lol
It’s moreso that they think “by the time shit hits the fan, I’ll be long dead anyway, so I don’t see why I should care”. Ergo, pure, distilled lack of empathy, a “fuck you, I got mine” aimed at the future of every living being in our planet.
As someone who has a big guilty pleasure for sports/performance cars and racing in general, this comic actually explains really well how I’m able to reconcile that with my dislike of car-centric infrastructure and wishing for better public transportation: without other means for getting around cities for people who don’t care much about cars (i.e. most people), everyone will be forced to use cars for basic transport, meaning really clogged highways and traffic jams that directly affect you and your fancy sports car’s enjoyment.
Conversely, if infrastructure was more accommodating for bikes, trains and buses to make them more viable, most people would use them, leaving the streets and highways freer for you to have fun driving your sports car the way it was meant to, instead of being stuck in traffic jams most of the time.
I just wish most people who are into cars realized this, instead of raving about how “they want to take away our cars!” and fellating Andrew Tate and other shitheads.
Now I’m honestly kind of glad that I’ve been too lazy/depressed to figure out how to get FOLON to run on Linux. I really hope they fix all this…
I’m fully out of the loop on what’s going on, but I really hope the emulator doesn’t shut down, I love my PS1 emulation…
meanwhile im already seeing “moderate” “pundits” saying the reason Harris lost is because she was too woke and Democrats need to move further right 🙃
