Russia is already heavily sanctioned to the point of it being hard to choose to financially support them. People should try to buy products made without slave labor, Uygur or otherwise. We probably BDS China in ways that aren’t helpful anyways.

Exactly my point, but people have been conditioned against trigger words like class. I don’t hide that’s what I’m really saying, but I try to present the argument without activating their red scare brainwashing. I don’t even consider myself a Marxist more than I consider myself a liberal, yet it’s still difficult to avoid being branded as such. When they put you in a box, you can’t get through to them and have an honest conversation.

Capitalism is the problem, but the concept itself is loaded like a landmine. I find that trying to disarm or weaken that trap is necessary if you’re to ever get through. It isn’t fair. It isn’t logical. It’s just the reality we have to deal with.

The US does only care about China’s genocides for selfish reasons, but the genocides themselves are not made up. The PRC is an empire, same as the US, same as the Soviet Union. There’s a reason countries like Vietnam ally with America over China. China is a regional bully that’s more of an immediate problem to them, despite all the terrible shit the US does. Just as Russia and the US have committed and continue to commit their own genocides, China plays the same imperial game.

Don’t defend empires just because another one sucks. I live in one of these empires and never plan to leave, but I’m not gonna deny the truth about it while I legally can. I’m an American more than I’m any other cultural group, but I know how evil and rotten it is. I’ll still live here and try my best within the empire while hoping people in China do the same.

China isn’t socialist in the slightest, but even when it was, it was still a nationalistic empire. They’ve become more reactionary and dangerous recently along with everywhere else on earth. They played ball with the neoliberal system and beat the west at its own game. However, that system inevitably bred fascism everywhere and destroyed itself, leaving the world powers primed for war.

The big picture is that all sides suck. Even if you want to support one for practical reasons, carrying their water when you don’t need to is pathetic. Be better.

A lot of young women have issues with the Democrats. Most Democratic voters have major issues with the Democrats. They kinda suck, especially as champions of marginalized groups. We still need to fight tooth and nail for everything because the party doesn’t want to piss off the wealthy.

If anything, we can bond over our shared frustration with the Democrats 🤝

Knowing things can be shit can help you not take things for granted, but good things are awesome without comparing them to shit.

I don’t think that assumption holds. Many activities like hyper masculine sports or body building are culturally tied to impressing women. Dudes getting in shape or “winning” to impress some girl is a common troupe. By the same token, many “feminine hobbies” like makeup and fashion are often about feeling confident about oneself and less about impressing dudes.

Both masculine and feminine hobbies get grouped in with impressing the opposite gender, but both are usually not about that for many of the people involved. A guy dressing fem isn’t necessarily trying to seduce men and a girl who makes gains and plays football isn’t necessarily a lesbian.

Hobbies and romantic lives aren’t more or less tied depending on gender, it’s just that women get presumed to only exist for men. The other reasons men do manly things are more easily recognized. Femininity gets assumed to exist just for men, but masculinity doesn’t get assumed to exist just for women.
