It’s not about the House or the EC, it’s the Senate. 2 more reliably R senators makes things worse

They won’t need to pack the court. Alito and Thomas will retire in about 18 months, just after having upheld a national abortion ban. They’ll view it as their crowning achievement and walk into the sunset as GOP heroes. Then they’ll be replaced with like-minded ideologues in their mid-40s to ensure that the right wing of the court will remain intact for at least the next 20 years.
If they packed the court, they will have just opened the door for Dems to do the same. Instead, they’ll leave it at 9 and dare the Dems to do something about it.
And when the economy tanks, him and his rich buddies will be right there to buy everything for pennies on the dollar, putting the screws to all of us even harder.
Don’t forget the simple greed from the corps.
Also remember (as you clearly wrote many times) that we’re talking increased risk, not causation. We were 24 and 27 when my autistic daughter was born. Sometimes you just get dealt a rough hand.
As president, he will demand to speak with the president of Puerto Rico!
No, the X stops that navigation session entirely, and that’s not what I’m looking for. Depending on where you are going, how many stops you have loaded, etc, you may not be able to easily start a new session. Breaking up the session also messes up any details about the overall trip, if anyone is trying to gather that.
Google Maps does have this function for Android Auto, so I’m not sure why the mobile Maps doesn’t.
Can we please get a “pause” button in navigation apps?
I don’t need to be yelled at to make a u-turn every 5 seconds just because I got off the freeway to get gas.
I heard this in my head to the beat of “The hand that feeds,” and it actually works pretty well lol
Just have to watch the drop boxes to make sure no one lights them on fire.
We’ve been dealing with this shit for far too fucking long…
I know that all the big stars hate me to say this, but I don’t want to risk 80 peoples’ jobs just to say I got big huevos on The Tonight Show, because that’s what happens. I think a big star just sprained an ankle doing a stunt, and 80 or 180 people are out of a job.
We have stunt people who do that stuff, and if they get hurt, I’m sorry to say but they just need to put a mustache on another Mexican and we can keep going. But if I get hurt, everybody’s out of a job. So I don’t choose to do that.
Here’s the thing you have to understand about Ted Cruz, I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz.
For every “lazy stoner” user, there’re probably 10 guys that light up after their manual labor job to stop their body from hurting long enough to get to sleep.
heatwaves everywhere…
Agreed. Some numbers for Phoenix this year -
70
The number of days this year of 110° or hotter, which is a new record. The previous record was 55 days, set in 2023
138
The number of days this year of 100° or hotter. The current record is 145 days, set in 2020. We are going to cool down a bit after the weekend, so we’ll be sitting at about 142. But, the latest we’ve ever had a 100° day is October 27th, so we’ve still got an outside shot at setting a new record.
113
The number of consecutive days this year of 100° or hotter. The previous record was 76 days, set in 1993.
16
The number of current days in a row of setting / tying a new all-time high each day. This streak started on September 25th 23rd and is expected to go through Monday, likely putting the total at 20. The previous record anywhere in the US for a streak like this was 14, set in Iowa in 1936 during the Dust Bowl.
“This city should not exist - it is a monument to man’s arrogance.”
2 reasons, I would presume.
He doesn’t want his appointees to have to deal with the questions that come up during the confirmation process, and
This way he can appoint the worst of the worst without worrying about Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins persuading 1 or 2 others to defect.
