I recently saw a video of AI designing an engine, and then simulating all the toolpaths to be able to export the G code for a CNC machine. I don’t know how much of what I saw is smoke and mirrors, but even if that is a stretch goal it is quite significant.

I don’t think Elon is wrong. I went back stateside this summer after being away since 2020, and there were Tesla cars everywhere. My daughter and I made a joke about seeing a cyber truck in the wild thinking it wouldn’t happen, and we ended up seeing 3 of them.

I think most people don’t care about politics, and just want a decent EV. There is an old Mark Twain quote about someone who doesn’t read the news being uninformed, while the person reading the news is misinformed. I think in todays day and age, ignorance is bliss and uninformed may be the smarter option for your long term health.

It’s basically a new religion, right? If this what fills the vacuum when we let go of the old religions… Is it an improvement? It certainly makes me want to be less critical of your average Christian/Jew/Muslim/Flying Spaghetti Monster worshipper.

I feel like we’re getting to the point that this needs to be an election deciding issue. It won’t be this upcoming election, but probably the one after where the presidency isn’t on the line. We need to ignore republican/democrat talking points and elect based on a will to completely revamp the system. Obama tried but it didn’t go far enough. Once its bad enough that people are willing to cross party lines to fix it, then you’ll see change, and I (probably too optimistically) think we’re almost there.

The episode of South park where they walk into this 22nd century insurance building and ask to make a claim. They get sent to the “claims office” and it’s like they went back in time to the 1980s with dot matrix printers, rotary dial phones, and fax machines.

So you’ve seen X-rays of both?

Israel might have gotten word that one of the pagers got flagged at an airport X-ray or something. If you wait long enough it will eventually get figured out.

How did the compromised pagers not trigger warnings at airport X-rays? I guess lithium batteries and C4 look similar?

What’s really hard is getting a 5 year old to understand this before you run out of energy from trying to hold their seat and run at the same time.

People are going to freak out when AI starts contacting them out of the blue.

That movies was so good. I was a teenager with testosterone levels pushing towards psychopathy. I thought he was the hero of the story even after it was over. My mom (I guess correctly) thought he was the bad guy.

My cousins and I still quote that movie a lot, though its even less PC now than it was back then. “Now THESE are Vietnam Jungle Boots! They’re great for…” Back in the day we would scream that shit at each other, now I’d cringe so hard I’d probably pull a stomach muscle.

Could be an AI made story, garlic only lasts about 6 months before spoiling. Seems like the kind of mistake AI would make.

The DC Mayor position is so corrupt usually. Anyone old enough to remember Marion Barry? I don’t know who it is now but last time I lived in DC the mayor was Vincent Gray and he even looked corrupt. He looks like Snidley Whiplash and Joe Jackson (Michael’s dad) had a baby.

Make whatever game you want and charge whatever you want for it. Ima just wait until it shows up on sale for $30 or less tho. Cuz I’m cheap… and patient.

We started doing Fondue for Thanksgiving instead of the traditional dinner. Its special and it tastes good and some years we discover new cheese combinations that work great. For Xmas we do a whole chicken leg with the little chef’s hat cover on the end of the leg bone.

Agree that traditional Thanksgiving meal sucks. No matter what they do to a turkey, brine it, deep fry it, baste it, it still tastes like turkey.

One thing my wife does well though is pumpkin pie. She does this cheese soufflé style pumpkin pie that is light on sugar. Its so good. The only problem is that it is visibly indistinguishable from a supermarket bought crappy sugary pumpkin pie.

In my teens I watched NBA basketball religiously.

In my twenties I was a huge MLB fan.

In my 30s I watched the NFL every weekend.

In my 40s I have athletics daughters and I watch them play and I also watch women’s soccer.

Does it help that the US women are a dominant force in the international area whereas the men are just “no longer a joke”.

When my highschooler was younger we’d go watch the Washington Spirit at the Soccerplex in Germantown.

It sat about 4,000.

This summer I travelled back to the US and caught a Spirit game in the new stadium in Baltimore. Holy shit what a big difference.

The crowd now had 19,000 in attendance.
