The lower the grade the faster it rusts. Forgot most people don’t know that. Its rusting because there is iron in steel (duh). It’s rusting quickly because it has low concentration of rust inhibitors like chromium or nickel. Increasing the concentration of these metals makes it rust slower. It also makes it harder to tool into a car body, making it a shifty choice for a car shell.

The article you linked is either uninformed or being misleading about “free iron”. That just means there are no rust inhibitors so they are leaving free energy available on the surface of an iron grain at the surface of the material. This makes it rust quickly where those grains are. There are millions of these grains at the surface where the metal interfaces with air. The iron particles are in the body panel, not on top of it.

It’s rusting because it’s a low grade stainless. Its low grade because stainless steel work hardens when bent or machined. Lower grades have less issues with work hardening. They made this choice to save on tooling costs I assume.

Work hardening is when you permanently deform a material it gets more brittle. Stainless is an unbelievably stupid choice for a vehicle body because it needs to be formed into complex shapes which require lots of deformation. It’s why SS cars feature mostly large flat panels and also partially why we have been moving towards aluminum body panels.

If those numbers are correct, that’s 40x the energy.

I own a station wagon, a suburban, and previously a truck. When I owned the truck it was full of shit or hauling stuff constantly. I sold it the moment I didn’t need it. The suburban replaced it because I refuse to put my dogs in the bed while towing the boat to go camping. The wagon is a people hauler because it’s payload is too low most of the time.

Firm disagree. Social media, or more specifically algorithmic short form content these days, is extremely damaging. It’s different from anything that’s come before and has nothing to do with connecting with your peers.

Don’t buy a sumsung washer. I only buy used washers and dryers because I’m cheap and handy. Samsung is not an option because a large part of the user market is broken in a way that costs the same as buying new.

I do sort of disagree with your QA comment. Everyone seems to think QA stops once you sell a product, but it doesn’t. They did a full recall to fix their quality mistake. My kids are similar ages and I think non-parents assume we are insulting them we we state how difficult parenting is. It’s an objective fact that having kids is hard, they make every activity at least twice as difficult.

The police have no duty to protect the public has only been tested under orders to protect from what I understand. Being charged with murder for not enforcing a restraining or protective order that led to a murder is sort of ridiculous, so I understand not forcing the police to act on every protective order.

As I stated before. Police have no right to identify you just for calling them. Even when a crime is committed verbal confirmation of your identity is more than enough. Identification is not required in the vast majority of situations, including this one. Until you get to the paperwork, then it is correct to identify someone. You’ve watched too many cops episodes or you fundamentally don’t understand American policing.

What? Property ownership doesn’t have anything to do with identification. Police don’t have free reign to force people to identity themselves because a person is unsure of who’s car is on their property. Entering the home is a huge issue as well. I guess a cop can force their way into my home for the unregistered car in my backyard and shoot me too.
