This is such a nuts clip. The dude is a piece of shit, immediately realizing he fucked up then saying “well I thought he said he supports Hamas” even though Medhi didn’t even mention Hamas.

They’re getting so close to slaping swastikas on their arms, this guy realized immediately that he can’t quite put the arm band on yet. But he desperately desperately wants to.

Fuck this guy. Medhi Hasan is an amazing journalist and he doesn’t deserve this shit.

Ryan James Girdusky, the POS in this clip, just posted on X: “You can stay on CNN if you falsely call every Republican a Nazi and have taken money from Qatar-funded media. Apparently you can’t go on CNN if you make a joke. I’m glad America gets to see what CNN stands for.” (I’m not going to post a link because fuck that platform.)

“Oh I was joking”. If you were joking you wouldn’t have told people you responded because you thought Mehdi said Hamas (which you didn’t think, you heard Palestinian and got angry). You would have said it was a bad joke. What a typical Nazi crybully Girdusky is.

Dude realizes he said a heartfelt, knee-jerk “quiet part out loud” and frantically tries to walk it back. It’s SO obvious that in his heart all Palestinians, and anyone who supports Palestinian rights, is a) Hamas and b) a valid target.

People will inevitably slip and tell you who they truly are. Like Trump, who says conservatives won’t have to vote again and he will be a dictator on day 1 and he wants to jail political opponents. Believe them.

How the fuck do you accuse someone of being a terrorist and then threaten to blow them up? Also, I am slowly missing the “talking stick”, more and more.

Part of the reason why this is encouraged is a lack of condemnation and sanctions on Israel for its pager terror attack. Instead you had many media outlets praise how “sophisticated” that attack was and many made “beeper jokes” on twitter and co.

The endorsement this terror attack by Israel gained from all parts of the mainstream political spectrum of course results in the American and European fascists endorsing to use it to terrorize their political opponents. if Israeli fascists get praised for terror attacks, ehy shpuldnt western fascists be also praised for it?

After all, many of these opponents parties themselves praised this kind of terror. Note that this is not exclusive to the US. In Germany there also have been dozens of supposed liberal and progressive politicians and journalists cheering on the terror attack and making “beeper jokes” to suggest killing people in Germany in this way too.

How the fuck do you accuse someone of being a terrorist and then threaten to blow them up?

Same way you claim your political opposition is committing widespread voter fraud, and then yours is the only party ever caught doing it.

Same way you accuse trans folks of being “child groomers,” when the vast majority of cases involve men from your own political party or religious group.

Same way… Well, you see where this is going.

Girdusky responded, “You’re called an anti-Semite more than anyone at this table.”

    Hasan replied, “Yeah, by you.”

Girdusky fired back, “I never called you an anti-Semite.”

I… I feel like this is basically something that would happen in some kind of prequel to V for Vendetta, like the ‘expanded universe’ of archived clips, stored in Stephen Fry’s secret art dungeon.

    … fucking hell.

Unless I am mistaken, in the movie Stephen Fry plays a character who was … some kind of former media person, or someone who used to be in the good graces of the high ups of the ruling party, but basically resigned out of disgust… though he tried to hide the disgust part.

Also Fry’s character reveals himself to be a closeted homosexual.

He lives in some kind of very fancy home, full of historical literature and artworks, many , many of which are considered heretical now.

He cooperates with V by housing Natalie Portman’s character… which eventually leads to his death when the Party finds out.

… and I’ve looked up some scenes on YT at it seems my recollection is broadly correct, except that I forgot that Fry actually aired a show which makes an extreme mockery of the big bad fascist prime minister… and before this, it was more like he was begrudgingly tolerated by the regime, often being forced to censor and rewrite his show

Scene where Fry seals his fate

Scene where Fry shows his art cellar, reveals he is closeted

I don’t feel that Tony is a racist. Does he make racist jokes yes. Is he known for this yes. So having him come on as a speaker you should already be aware of what will come out of his mouth. And if you have a problem with what he might say maybe don’t have him as a guest speaker.

Also while his joke has gotten the lime light it was not the most concerning thing said at that rally. Because once again he is a roast comedian, while the others on that stage said things that should be heard as well because of how worrying they are.

      1. This wasn’t what this article was about, so it doesn’t need to take a position on the pager attack itself.
      2. This article links to articles about the pager attack that fills in all the details you claim were missing, you just have to read (hard, I know).

I feel like every time there’s a story posted that’s even tangentially related to Israel, there’s some Lemmy user in the comments ready to complain that the article wasn’t written with their preferred anti-Israel slant…

At some point, we just have to accept that you’re complainIng for the sake of complaining, not for the sake of adding anything to the conversation. You seem more interested in being heard signalling virtue than actually saying something of value.

There’s a whole pullquote describing the beeper attack, and it doesn’t even include the word “terrorist”

Its not a slant to describe a terrorist attack as a terrorist attack. Its called being objective and reporting facts.

Again, this is not a story about the pager attack, this is a story about an interaction that happened on CNN. It’s from Mediate, a website that focuses on meta news about journalism. Covering geopolitics isn’t even their focus.

It doesn’t mention that the beeper attack was a terrorist attack

CNN anchors were practically bragging about how surgical and sophisticated the act was when it occurred. Nevermind the collateral damage, it’s actually incredibly cool when you circulate bombs through a civil population in an effort to cripple one Iranian diplomat.

I’m a little surprised CNN fired him. They got bought out by shitheads and it’s sole purpose now is to masquerade as news while being the thinnest end of the wedge for nazi conservative bullshit.

This guy’s tactical mistake was forgetting to be gentlemanly and news anchorly about it.

CNN loves mainstreaming guys like Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck, and Eric Erickson to collect the wingnut welfare checks that come with them.

It’s only when they start costing more than they bring in that they get cut loose. Then they roll out new “respectable” conservative front men to replace the old ones.
