And don’t forget to shut the fuck up.
I generally avoid even watching a 30 second video link, but I’m not even an American and ended up watching all 45 minutes of this. That was a great talk - thanks for sharing it.
Love this lecture. It should be required viewing in high schools.
You forgot,

It’s like a warning about wild animals at a campsite.
Never approach the wildlife or make it feel threatened. Do not make sudden movements. Doing so may provoke an attack. Never feed the police. It cannot tell the difference between fingers and french fries.
Or a fucking hairbrush and a gun
Or himilayan pink salt and drugs
Or an acorn and a gunshot
Or kitty litter an meth. Or a wallet and a gun (Diallo…and probably countless others)
Kitty litter/meth, now I gotta see this one
FYI - don’t try the search shit in the UK.
Stop and searches are not voluntary, and officers don’t need your permission to go through your belongings. You can’t refuse a stop and search by UK law. If you do, they can use force.
When the police knock on your door DO NOT open the door. Speak through the door. If they have a warrant, they can already enter. If they don’t have a warrant, they may use you stepping outside to detain you anyways, and it also gives them an opportunity to see into your house.
Fyi: This only applies to the USA
Where I live Police don’t need to give you a paper with proof of a warrant, they still need a warrant but they don’t have to prove it to you.
A lot of people here think they do though.

FYI: “I want to speak to a lawyer” is not an unequivocal invocation of your rights. Be specific. “I am invoking my right to have a lawyer present” or something to that effect.
This didn’t used to be the case until the Thompkins ruling amended the Miranda ruling in 2010.

Its unfortunate how difficult it is to stay aware of basic rights for lay persons with decisions like this throwing out old assumptions.
Also, if you are ever pulled over and you are asked to get out of your car, you need to close the door behind you.
Why
There is a thing with liability when the insurance is concerned, in the case where you leave your keys ignition and/or leave your car doors unlocked with thieves about.
How does this apply for the aforementioned case of being pulled over by police?
Or move to a country that has a police force where officers are properly trained and monitored.
Oh yeah sure let me just get all my paperwork to do so magically approved, and scrounge together a few years’ worth of savings in order to move and afford to live while looking for a new job, and leave behind all my friends and family that I can’t bring with me.
